Damage To Fixed And Floating Objects

Fixed and floating object claims arise from liability for interference with or damage to an object that is not a vessel: dock, bridge, gantry crane or buoy, damage to any other object etc... This includes liability resulting from physical contact with property belonging to a 1/3 party.

The BUDD Group shipping in AfricaDepending upon the nature of the damage, We as local correspondents will be able to arrange for the most suitable person (civil, structural or mechanical engineer or a cargo or marine surveyor) to carry out an examination and assess the extent of the damage, but also to ensure that reasonable steps are taken by claimants to mitigate the loss and to carry out prompt repairs.

In addition to the physical damage to the FFO, there may be also consequential losses while it is out of use. Invariably, unless the incident is minor, the claimants will have demanded security.

This may be provided by either the Members' P&I Club or his Hull Underwriters, depending upon which policy covers the liability for a FFO incident.

As part of the P &I Clubs' network of correspondents, our clients know that BUDD have people and experience in handling these claims: they are able to react quickly and provide necessary assistance and help through their offices in France and in Africa.
