When Douala’s taxi drivers went on strike over diesel price rises, young trouble makers seized the opportunity to take to the streets this weekend. In the ensuing riots, cars, shops and public buildings were attacked and/or torched.
We understand that the army has succeeded in keeping the airport open and it is hoped that peace will soon return to the streets of Douala.
However, at present it is not safe to venture out onto the streets with the result that the port is virtually at a standstill and Budd’s staff are working from home where they can be reached on their AOH phone numbers:
Suzanne Moume Mob. +237 77 78 91 00, Tel. +237 33 42 84 76
Laure Leuche Mob. +237 77 60 08 37, Tel. +237 33 47 06 28
In these difficult circumstances, we would also remind clients of the importance of copying all e-mails to general.marseille@budd-pni.com.
Watch this space for further developments.
