Cameroon: Post-Election Riots

Impact on Government Services

Budd Cameroon warns that the protests surrounding the re-election of President Paul Biya (92) for another term have resulted in delays in services provided by some government departments. Consequently, it may take longer than usual to complete official formalities.

Protest Response and Casualties

The protests and general shutdowns following the 12 October election results were met with a severe response. Reported casualties and arrests vary significantly, with figures citing between 12 and 48 deaths, and 1,200 to 2,000 arrests.
