DR Congo: No Disturbances During Today’s Civil Servants’ Strike

We have just been advised by our DR Congo offices that there have not been any disturbances during today’s civil servant strike.

As promised, President Kabila addressed Congresse earlier today.  He asked the opposition parties to give him within the next 48 hours, the names of suitable candidates to lead the transition government which will be responsible for organising presidential elections.

Previous attempts to reach consensus failed and it can only be hoped that agreement will be reached this time.
