General Strike in Nigeria – Ports at a Standstill
Budd’s Lagos office
advises that a general strike of all Nigerian public and private sector employees
started this morning (27 September 2018).
For the time being, the
strike has brought activity in Nigeria’s ports to a standstill. No vessels are berthing and none are
discharging cargo.
The strike is motivated
by pay demands and has been described as a “Warning Strike”.
Negotiations between
the government and representatives of the Trade Union Congress are underway.
