Guinea: Petrol Prices Spark Protests

A 25% increase in petrol prices (from GF 8,000 or US$ 0.89 per litre to GF 10,000 or
US$ 1.11 per litre) resulted in barricades going up in the streets of Conakry on Friday, 6 July 2018.

Disturbances are expected to intensify today as the main unions have called for a general strike.

The port remains a well-protected area.  Our local office would recommend that seafarers stay within its vicinity.
