Myanmar’s biggest public holiday period is due to start on 13 April 2017 with the three-day Thingyan water festival immediately followed by the Burmese New Year from 17 to 21 April.

During the Thingyan holiday, people traditionally throw water at each other to wash away sins and evil of the past year.

In the ports, our Myanmar office advises that stevedores will not be working from 13 to 17 April (New Year’s day) included.
